Vittorio Bertola, engineer, policy expert and startupper, coordinates the innovation, research and policy activities at Open-Xchange, the world’s leading provider of open source email and DNS solutions for hosting, service provider and telecommunication companies.
For the last three years, he has been running the Trusted Email Services (TES) project, that promotes the adoption of modern, open technologies to make email transport and authentication more secure, and has been developing the new ID4me standard for open and interoperable identity management on an Internet scale; he has also been traveling the world to advocate a free and open Internet based on user choice, privacy protection and federated services by multiple providers.
In the last twenty years he promoted several Internet startups, including the early pan-European digital music platform Vitaminic, and he served in many positions in national and international Internet governance organizations, including the ICANN Board and the United Nations Working Group on Internet Governance.
