GNSO Rights Protection Mechanisms Policy Development Process Working Group Meeting
Summary description of the meeting
This GNSO Policy Development Process (PDP) was initiated to review all the various rights protection mechanisms (RPMs) that are currently in place for the protection of trademark owners. In Phase One, the PDP Working Group is reviewing all the RPMs that were developed for ICANN’s 2012 New gTLD Program. Phase Two, to commence when Phase One is completed and following a preliminary report, will focus on the long-standing Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy. The Working Group is currently reviewing the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH), a global repository of verified trademark records submitted by trademark holders. At this session, the Working Group will engage the community in an open dialogue on the status of the PDP, its findings concerning the TMCH’s operations and use, and its proposed next steps on this project as well as its upcoming review of the RPMs offered through the TMCH, i.e. Sunrise registrations and the Trademark Claims notification service. All are welcome to attend.
